The francophone population is invited to Carrefour Santé 2016 on March, 10 and 11, 2016, in Ottawa
For immediate release
OTTAWA, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 – After a great success in 2010 and 2012, Carrefour Santé – Eastern Ontario’s Largest French Health and Well-Being Expo – is back for its 3rd edition. The kickoff was given today at a press conference hosted at La Cité College.
Held under the honorary co-presidencies of Mrs Huguette Labelle and Helene Campbell, the 2016 Carrefour Santé brings together nearly 100 exhibitors offering health services in French in Eastern Ontario. A series of 20 workshops and conferences covering health and well-being in addition to a healthy lifestyle are also on the program.
“The Carrefour Santé is a unique opportunity for the community and for health professionals to learn about health services offered in French in the region,” explains Jacinthe Desaulniers, Executive Director of French Language Health Services Network of Eastern Ontario (or the Network), the host organisation of the event. “The expo also provides participants with tools to help them take charge of their health.”
“Many health services are available but are often unknown”, said Huguette Labelle, the Carrefour Santé’s honorary co-president. “Proper access to French health care is part of the body of knowledge available on service offerings. The Carrefour Santé is a way to address that need. We hope that the population will join us!”
The Carrefour Santé’s full program is reflective of the needs and interests of the community and of vital health forces from the region. To meet the needs of different audiences – youth, parents, elders and health professionals – the Expo offers specific workshops to each segment such as well-being related to mental health, or alternatively, healthy aging. The Expo has also developed several partnerships with leading institutions such as the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa, La Cité College, Montfort Hospital’s Centre Prométhée, the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est, the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, the Fédération des aînés et des retraités francophones de l’Ontario, Retraite en Action, as well as the Regroupement des gens d’affaires de la capitale nationale, to name only a few.
The official program will be available on the web site www.CarrefourSante.ca as of February 15. Admission to the Carrefour Santé is free. If you wish to participate in the workshops, advanced registration is recommended as spaces are limited.
